Certificate III in Hairdressing: Technical, Classic Cutting & Styling will grow and expand all your creative visions with colour, texture and shape from the sleek and straight to curl, volume, body, colour and the movement of hair.

Certificate III in Hairdressing: Technical, Classic Cutting and Styling

From the Afro of civil rights to the flapper and her shingle bob of freedom, hairstyles have always made bold statements. Think of the acid yellow buzzcut, Eton crops, punk mohawks, and the long hair of hippies. Remember the ‘wash-and-wear’ bobs, Vivienne Westwood shaves, and the evolution of hair colour from permanent to demi and semi, sombre to ombré, and wet-lights to highlights. Techniques like lowlights, babylights, ribbon lights, colour melts, dip-dyes, reverse balayage, balayage, strobing, and smudging have all left their mark.

When it comes to cuts, the styles range from fades and tapers, undercuts and pompadours, to quiffs, comb overs, crew cuts, and faux hawks. Top knots, bangs, pixies, tapered layers, long layers, lobs, and shags showcase the endless possibilities. From smooth to choppy, up to down, polished to unpolished, and symmetrical to asymmetrical, the Colour Cosmetica Academy covers it all.

You will have the opportunity to make an impact on our fast-growing industry, supported by our commitment to your growth as part of the new breed of creatives.

Classic and Creative Cuts Learn to create classic looks with precision, mastering the foundations in cut, art, and design for your clients. Incorporate one-length, gradation, and layering techniques, along with various style variations. Our program is rich with cutting instruction, guided work sessions, and innovative visual-based learning.

Focus on the anatomy and reference points of haircutting: length and projection, angles, elements, and principles of design. Learn to manage and control hair, design haircuts, understand weight lines, natural fall, and the shapes of haircuts. Master base partings, elevations, design guidelines, starting points, distributions, finger angles, and haircut plan construction.

Gain expertise in the art of blow-drying, using a variety of tools and thermal styling techniques. Explore different tools and style trends, from creating curls, waves, and volume to achieving a straight and smooth look. Learn to straighten hair using brush techniques and thermal tools, curl and texturise hair, set hair with rollers, and style long hair for editorial events, media, and productions.

Develop your colour and texture technical knowledge and application skills. Understand the importance of safety and chemicals, manual handling, client comfort, health, and hygiene in hairdressing. Study skin and hair biology, basic cosmetic chemistry concepts, the pH scale, and the chemistry of hairdressing. Learn about oxidative hair colours, hydrogen peroxide, developers, and the differences between temporary, semi, demi, permanent colours, high lift colours, tones, and powder lighteners. Master the art of correcting tones and building texture in hair, from volumes and curls to straight and sleek styles.

A truly professional, welcoming and warm environment. My daughter and I have no doubt whatsoever that Colour Cosmetica is the perfect fit for her.

Corinna

I adore the team at Colour Cosmetica. They are a tight knit family and treat their clients the same way. Couldn’t recommend them higher.

Tom

It was a great class. Rebecca thoroughly explained the steps from client consultation, contraindications, procedures and techniques including how to interact with the client. It was very useful and helped me to be more confident. I enjoyed the class very much.
