Certificate III in Barbering: The Unisex Barber
It’s the barber Club where the cool girls cut hair
Course code: SHB30516
A chic new breed of men’s grooming destination is poised to become the next gender-neutral frontier.

There’s something undeniably cool, after all, about dropping into a 1920s-feel vintage barbershop for a swingy, blunt-cut bob or stocking up on sturdy, colourful razors at an under-the-radar apothecary.
For some girls, sifting through a friend’s closet in search of the perfect oversize knit or authentically slouchy blazer is second nature by now. It’s not surprising, then, that a chic new breed of men’s grooming destination is poised to become the next gender-neutral frontier.
At their best, the latest boys’ clubs are fast, easy, and refreshingly laid-back offering an unfettered alternative to the occasionally laboursome task of monthly maintenance.
From precision-based men’s haircuts, covering: men’s one length and solid shapes, men’s graduated and layered cuts and textures, the art of using scissor over-comb techniques, combining the classics and traditional to the fashion forward.
We cultivate detailed fashion forward cutting using freehand clipper techniques, creating distinct styles using tracks, carving, wet and dry cutting from: Classic Tapers, Fohawks, Pompadours, Bald Heads, Caesars, Low Fades, Mid Fades, High Fades, High-Top Fades, Afro, Flat Tops, Razor Lineups, Shampoos, Classical Haircuts, Beard Trims, Shape Ups, Blowouts, Mohawks and more.
THE RISE OF THE UNISEXED BARBER
For those who wish to add a point of difference to the barber room the technical division covers innovative men’s technical services and techniques; the fundamentals of men’s classic colouring and lightening of hair, providing highlighting, retouch lightening treatments and how to neutralise unwanted colours and tones.
From the shine line to the half head of foils and flat matte blue green colour, our expert colourists will show you how. With tips on everything from colour placement, pre-lightening and tone to skin. Metallic grey tones are incredibly topical, with focuses on how to apply a backwash grey toner, an easy win if you’re looking for ways to enhance your men’s colouring repertoire and appeal to a wide variety of your male clientele.
Everyone loves natural, sun-kissed tones, especially during the warmer months of the year. We show you how to apply a masculine half head of foils.
With expert advice on everything from slice techniques to restoring depth and tone, you’ll learn how to create an understated natural colour that maintains masculinity.
With insight and pointers on everything from colour placement, sectioning’s, to mid length to ends applications, the porosity of hair and how to use the basic tint application to enhance the shape of your haircuts.
With how to create a subtle veil of warm and cool brown tones against a medium pearl ash blonde, defining and highlighting the curves of a halo haircut. The subtle muted tones you’ll create are guaranteed to impress your male clients.
Learn all the tips on how to provide colour placement sectioning, foil highlighting and slice and weaving technique, ensuring that you’re able to deliver a complete male grooming service.
In the men’s grooming division, we will cover techniques in providing men’s general and luxury grooming services, designing and maintaining beards and moustaches, head and face shaves, extending in magnificence head, neck and shoulder massages for relaxation and scalp rejuvenation, men’s classic and advanced facials, body massage and spas treatments, men’s manicures and pedicures, men’s lash and brow designing, men’s makeup, styling men’s hair and so much more.
In the men’s business division you will learn the how’s to providing the great barbering salon and spa service to clients, your total image and professional self-marketing techniques.
